Overwhelming evidence indicates early achievement in math and science predicts later school success as well or better than early literacy skills alone. STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education equips children with the ability to reason, question, discover, and explain, especially through integrated instruction in science, technology, engineering and math. STEM education prepares students to embrace future educational and career opportunities.
Holy Name boasts a range of cutting-edge learning environments that prioritize our Catholic ethos, creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. Our STEM Lab is a prime example of our commitment to innovation, offering students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade the opportunity to engage in hands-on, minds-on learning across nine STEM modules. Our STEM lab is one-of-a-kind in the state of Wyoming and instruction is provided by a dedicated STEM Curriculum Specialist. This space celebrates the integration of Catholic values and technology, inspiring students to tackle real-world problems with creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and effective communication.
At Holy Name, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math receive increased emphasis but not at the expense of other subjects, including Language Arts and Social Studies. The balance of content and focus on developing early literacy skills is of utmost importance at Holy Name. Even while pursuing STEM subjects, our students are also taught traditional courses which include Handwriting (print and cursive) , Phonics, Grammar and Writing, Language Arts, Social Studies and Physical Education. In addition, all students also receive exposure to Liberal Arts through instruction in Library Music, Piano, Art and Theatre.
We believe that approaching education from the perspective of wonder, exploration and faith will ignite the love of learning in our children. Curiosity and critical thinking are pillars of STEM education. As a Catholic STEM Academy, we will help our children experience the balance of faith and reason so they can be a light in the secular world.
