To ensure Holy Name continues to offer high quality, innovative education that remains steeped in tradition and Catholic values, the School Board unanimously voted to focus on cutting edge trends in education and approved the expansion of teaching and learning at Holy Name to include STREAM education.
In 2024-2025, Holy Name implemented a comprehensive STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Math) program to increase academic rigor and offer a holistic approach to educating the whole student. STREAM enables our teachers to teach with an interdisciplinary approach in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) while integrating the Arts and Religion throughout the daily routine (STREAM). As a Catholic School, we place an increased emphasis on religion in our curriculum. With these changes, we strengthen the Catholic Education we offer, to make Holy Name a STREAM learning environment.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). A comprehensive STEM education helps to prepare students for the future by teaching them new technologies and innovations. This education helps students to understand and participate in shaping the world around them. We have purchased a suite of Discovery Education’s comprehensive, state of the art, standards-aligned digital learning resources. These resources are integrated into our PK-5th grade instruction. STEM learning is enhanced for all PK-5th grade students through the addition of a STEM lab and a STEM teacher. The new partnership with Discovery Education, which includes professional development training for the STEM teacher, will help HNCS offer a higher quality education in the Sciences.
RELIGION (R). With the guidance of WCEA, Holy Name provides stronger instruction and experiences in Religion, which adds depth and breadth to our Catholic school culture and individual identity as a Catholic school. We incorporate spirituality into every aspect of the curriculum and teach that service to others is a basic tenet of our Catholic faith. Holy name promotes self-discipline through the clarity of a moral vision that is based on the Gospel while challenging students to be Christ-like.
ARTS (A).We integrate the Arts with intentionality. An Arts curriculum supports one’s self-exploration, self-expression, mental focus, physical dexterity, and increases personal confidence. Engagement in the Arts helps students to stretch their minds beyond the boundaries of text or the rules of what is provable. Holy Name offers an enriched arts education that develops both the academic and artistic skills of students as well as an appreciation of the arts. Holy Name offers Theater, Visual Arts, and Piano. Theater provides a concentrated study on the disciplines of acting and singing within the frame of musical dramatic performance. Visual Arts provides a broad based fine arts curriculum with a variety of art forms. Piano offers students introductory learning and growth as a pianist.
